Turf around raised homes
Many Staten Island homes, especially on the East and South Shores, were rebuilt or raised after Hurricane Sandy. A raised house changes the yard: tall stairs, a lift or ramp, concrete walks and fence lines everywhere, and small strips of lawn that are hard to mow around.
On the raised home above we wrapped the front and side yard in synthetic turf, cut in clean sections around the walks, the stair landing, the gate and the vinyl fence. Nothing is left to mow or string-trim, and the turf drains through its backing after a storm.
Flood zones
If your property is in a FEMA-mapped flood hazard area — check your address on FEMA’s Flood Map Service Center — regrading and new hard surfaces can come under extra review, so it is worth knowing before a large patio goes in. Turf on a stone base over existing grade is a lighter change than new paving, but we confirm the details for your lot at the site visit.
Dog runs and pet areas
Our Staten Island dog run is a long synthetic turf run edged in gravel, built so it drains fast and stays clean. For pets we use grades listed for pet areas — K-91, K-92 or Natural Blend 700 — on a compacted stone base, so rinse water and rain pass straight through instead of soaking into the ground under the turf.
Turf by the roll for Staten Island
Staten Island is in our regional delivery zone: $175 for the first pallet and $75 per extra pallet from the Monroe Township yard, usually in 2–3 business days. If you have a truck or trailer rated for the roll weight, pickup at the yard is free — it is a short run back over the Outerbridge.
Common questions
Can you install turf around a raised home with a lift or tall stairs?
Yes. On our Staten Island raised-home project we cut the turf in clean sections around the walks, stair landing, gate and fence so there is nothing left to mow around.
Is synthetic turf good for a dog run?
Yes, with a pet-area grade on a compacted stone base. Urine and rinse water drain through the backing and the stone, and the run never turns to mud. Our pet-area grades are K-91, K-92 and Natural Blend 700.
Can I pick up turf in New Jersey instead of paying for Staten Island delivery?
Yes. Pickup at our yard at 600 Englishtown Rd, Monroe Township, NJ is free once we text that the order is ready; bring a vehicle rated for the roll weight and we load it with a forklift. Delivery to Staten Island is $175 plus $75 per extra pallet.
